Storm Total: 12 Inches at Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge
The storm’s over, and wow, did it surprise! Mammoth’s weather forecasters way underestimated this particular storm. Let’s hope that continues to be the case throughout the season!
Update: 11 inches and counting @ 12:53pm – Main Lodge
The snow is coming down hard today at Mammoth Mountain and in the town of Mammoth Lakes. This is your first true Mammoth Mountain Snow Report of the ’13-’14 Winter Season! Mammoth Mountain was expecting to get between 6 and 10 inches of snow, according to the most liberal reports. What Mammoth has gotten already is truly incredible. The Mammoth Mountain Main Lodge has already received upwards of 8 inches of snow! And more is on the way. Snow is expected to continue overnight and into Tuesday. We really wouldn’t be surprised for Main Lodge to receive upwards of 1 foot. The Mammoth Crest may be receiving 18 inches plus.
MammothTourism checked out the scene at Main Lodge today, and what we saw made us extremely excited. The Mammoth Mountain staff, it looked like, were preparing, in earnest, for an opening. Now I’m not saying that Mammoth Mountain is going to be opening tomorrow, but it appears that there is a very good chance that Mammoth will be opening in advance of its projected November 7th reported date.
